Introducing new research team member Dr Marco Molteni
We're delighted to introduce our new Post-doctoral Researcher in Global Correspondent Banking 1870-2000, Dr Marco Molteni who joined the project at the beginning of September. Marco's role will involve using advanced statistical analysis to analyse data and develop visualisations and network analysis of the many thousands of correspondent banking links recorded in published sources during this period, focusing initially on the development of global inter-banking connections and financial stability at the height of the first globalisation (1901-1913).
Marco recently completed his DPhil in Economic and Social History at Pembroke College, Oxford, where he wrote his thesis on banking development, supervision and distress in 1926-36, reconstructing the story of what happened using the banking supervision archives at the Bank of Italy, where he spent a semester as visiting guest researcher at the Economic History Division.
Previous to this he studied at the University of Milan (BA in History) and at Warwick University (PG Diploma in Economics). He is currently one of the editors of the Oxford Working Papers in Economic and Social History.
